Sundown Adventureland is a 3rd generation family business located near Lincoln (DN22 0HX) that has traded successfully for over fifty years with its unique core focus on children aged 0-10. The theme park has grown and now covers over fifty acres which can accommodate four thousand people and employs a team of more than a hundred at peak times. Sixty six holiday lodges are currently being constructed and are due to open in September this year. 

As Sundown now enters a new phase of the park’s history, we are looking for two Operations Managers who will take control of the daily operation of the theme park, and support the Manager of the lodge accommodation, in both enthusing and driving the team to deliver H&S, operational standards, revenues and margins, and of course happy visitors and guests! 

The expectation is that the successful applicants will already have operational experience in leisure, facilities, and people, and possess a desire to progress and grow their career with continuous development that will be supported by the Sundown Directors. 

Key areas of the job role will be: 

Health, safety & welfare 

  • To ensure that all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing is maintained across the park for all staff and visitors on the park. 
  • Role 1 main areas of responsibility will be the main ticketing office, all food outlets, all shops souvenir stalls. 
  • Role 2 main areas of responsibility will be ride operations, all maintenance activities, interactive play areas. 
  • Ensure that all staff training is kept up to date and progress is continually monitored. 
  • Assist with maintaining the Fire Log across all areas of the park & Holiday Park. Also making sure that all testing, training is carried out on time. 
  • Carrying out/Reviewing Risk Assessments, safe systems of work as well as planning training sessions to maintain a high standard of safety within the park. 
  • Ensuring that all planned maintenance inspections (inhouse or externally by others) is carried out on time. 
  • Being able to manage the digital maintenance program (MOBARO) and ensure all checks are carried out on time and that team members are correctly filling out repair reports. Whilst ensuring that all faults are repaired in an acceptable time frame. 

Maintaining the park and keep it looking at its best! 

  • It shall be vital to maintain the whole park and minimise any down time of the parks many attractions inclusive of all the rides, play areas and interactive areas. 
  • Ensuring that faulty equipment is repaired in an acceptable time frame and where areas are not fit for purpose are segregated from use. 
  • Maintaining stock levels for critical components and parts with high wear and tear 
  • Budgeting for the costs for maintenance materials to fit within the business finances. 

Operation of the park 

  • Delivering a consistently high quality experience to ensure happy guests who want to return, by ensuring operational standards are maintained at all times. 
  • Delivering the core brand values of Sundown. 
  • Driving admissions revenues 
  • Driving sales and margins of F&B and Retail. 
  • Managing the team 
  • Delivering to cost budgets. 
  • Taking ownership of the park operation for the days business. 
  • Cash handling and security 
  • Have a full understanding of the accommodation operation, services and front of house. 
  • Any specific duties or projects as set by the Directors. 

Candidates will have some or all of the following criteria: 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Have a mechanical/fabrication background. 
  • Understands heavy plant/machinery and be able to carry out sufficient assessment and provide safe working documentation. 
  • Nebosh training in fire safety (This can be arranged if not currently trained) 
  • Current first aid training certificate 
  • Level 3 food hygiene trainer 

Essential Criteria 

  • A leadership personality that can operate as part of a team and instil a culture of fun work. 
  • Excellent organisational and communications skills. 
  • A ‘we can do it’ attitude that carries through to the team. 
  • Able to resolve issues as they occur. 
  • Have previous management experience in either visitor attractions or leisure. 
  • Passionate attention to detail 
  • Process driven. 
  • Full UK drivers’ licence 
  • Be efficient working with IT including Microsoft office, word, excel and the Mobaro digital inspection application. Reviewing CCTV footage during times of investigations. 
  • Nebosh NGC national general certificate
